Class Placement Requirements

Placement based on age:
1. Tiny Tots (3-4 years): Ballet or ballet/tap combo
Description: Introduces the dancer to basic ballet and/or tap through creative movement. Work to develop flexibility, coordination and musicality. The dancer will be introduced to basic terminology and steps. Combo classes consist of 40 minutes of ballet and 20 minutes of tap.

2. Pre-Level (5-6 years): Ballet or ballet/tap combo
Description:  Introduces dancer to formal ballet and/or tap by learning basic terminology and steps and continues to focus on flexibility, coordination and musicality. Combo classes consist of 40 minutes of ballet and 20 minutes of tap.

3. Foundational Level (7-8 years): Ballet, ballet/tap combo, or ballet/jazz combo
Description: Dancer learns beginning dance terminology and steps and works to increase strength.
Combo classes consist of 40 minutes of ballet and 20 minutes of either jazz or tap.

4. Apprentice I (9-10 years) & Apprentice I (11-13 yrs) (Beg. w/no exp.): Ballet, tap, jazz, or hip-hop
Description: For dancers with little (less than one year in the past three years) or no formal dance experience in ballet, tap, jazz and/or hip/hop (must have one year jazz experience to be in hip-hop)

5. Beginner Level for Adults: Ballet, tap and jazz
Description: For adults ages 18 and up with little (less than one year in the past three years) or no dance experience to introduce beginning level steps and terminology. Focuses on strength building and increasing flexibility while using dance for worship.

Audtions for the Celebration Dance Company (CDC), Ballet and Jazz 2008-2009 season will be held in the Spring. Date and Time: To Be Determined.

1. Apprentice II (9-10 years) & Apprentice II (11-13 years): Ballet, jazz, tap & hip-hop
• For dancers who have danced in Apprentice I for at least one year
• Ideal for Lyrical Company dancers.
• For non-company: dancer must have teacher approval
• Apprentice Company: must be in one ballet class per week to be in ballet plus the Saturday class

2. Level A: Ballet, pre-pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical & modern
•  For dancers with two consecutive years of formal ballet training
•  Must have one consecutive year of jazz for jazz and/or hip-hop
•  Pre-pointe work will prepare the dancer for beginning Pointe work
•  Company A: Must be in at least two ballet classes per week to be in balletplus the Saturday class
•  Accepted by approval only.

3. Level B: (Intermediate Level): Ballet, beginning Pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical & modern
•  For dancers with three consecutive years of formal ballet training
•  Pointe work will focus on beginning level steps and strengthening
•  Non-company: must be in at least two ballet classes per week to be in ballet
• Company B: must be in at least two ballet classes per week plus the Saturday class
•  Must have two consecutive years of jazz to be in jazz and/or hip-hop
•  Accepted by approval only.

4. Level C (Intermediate/Advanced Level): Ballet, Int. Pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical & modern
•  For dancers with four consecutive years of formal ballet training
•  Pointe work will focus on intermediate level steps and strengthening
•  Non-company: must be in at least two ballet classes per week to be in ballet
• Company C: must be in at least two ballet classes per week plus the Saturday class
•  Must have three consecutive years of jazz to be in jazz and/or hip-hop
•  Accepted by approval only.

5. Level D (Advanced Level): Ballet, Adv. Pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and modern
•  For dancers with five or more consecutive years of formal ballet training
•  Pointe work will focus on advanced level steps and strengthening
•  Non-company: must be in at least three ballet classes per week to be in ballet
• Company D: must be in at least three ballet classes per week plus the Saturday class
•  Must have four consecutive years of jazz to be in jazz and/or hip-hop
•  Accepted by approval only.
